The Gipfelalm summit lodge
Germany’s highest restaurant
According to the most recent results of the Bavarian land surveying office, Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, is 2962.06 meters (9718.04 feet) high. The elevation given for Zugspitze fluctuated between 2961 and 2966 meters (9714 and 9731 feet) over the years until the height was then determined officially according to the Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP) in May of 2000. Austrian measurements use the level of the Adriatic Sea as a reference, so that Zugspitze mountain is approx. 30 cm higher from an Austrian perspective.Mountain scalers can still their hunger and quench their thirst in a Bavarian ambiance at an altitude of 2952 meters (9685 feet) in Gipfelalm, our rustic summit lodge. The exceptional architecture lends the building a special mountain cabin character and makes for a genuine "Bavarian Alm" feeling. The menu, too, promises Bavarian specialties and regional delicacies. And if you are fortunate enough to catch a window seat, you will feel like in an airplane while peering across Werdenfelser Land and beyond to the large glacial lakes, Starnberger See and Ammersee.
Our dynamic, friendly team will be glad to serve you typical Bavarian dishes like Weißwurst, Kaiserschmarrn and Apple Strudel or one of our regularly changing daily specials. When the sun is shining, Germany’s highest-elevation beer garden right in front of the Gipfelalm summit lodge invites you to relax in a lounger with a glass of genuine Champagne.
We look forward to your visit!
