Winter hikes as far as you can go

Even if you're not an avid skier, you can enjoy winter fun in full in the Garmisch-Classic area. All you need to do is take the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn's Alpspitze or Kreuzeck cable cars to the winter wonderland on high where myriad winter walks and hikes await you.

After leaving the Kreuzeck mountain station, walk along one of the cleared trails through winter forests blanketed in snow and past log cabins with white crowns.

Always in view: Garmisch-Partenkirchen in winter deep down in the valley, the Loisach valley reaching far into the distance and, of course, the imposing moutain panorama of Zugspitze, Alpspitze and the prominent Waxenstein peaks towering over the wild Höllental gorge.
